A.M: Monday 15th Septmeber Lesson

In the lesson we looked at the video Human by Carpark North. We focused on representation in the video:

The youth is represented as careless and reckless. This is shown through the use of props such as chocolate milk. The two boys through the milk at each other regardless of their clothes and the surrounding area.

In one particular shot their is a young boy flexing his muscles and tensing. This represents the pressure on youth today. It conforms to the dominant ideology that males are expected to be strong.

Also I particularly liked the use of stop motion in this video. The chalk on the chalkboard was drawing itself. I think we should use the technique of stop motion in our video.

Slo-motion was used very effective in this music video. Firstly you saw the children falling in slo-motion. This looked very interesting due to their floaty clothes and long hair.

Slo-motion was also used in CU of the childrens faces. They were being shaken however the time stretch was used so much that the end result created a slightly disturbing and unnerving outcome. I thought this was very clever and something we could consider to use in our video.
