D.B: Thursday 11th September Lesson

In Thursdays lesson we watched some music videos as a class so we could get some wider inspiration from videos we might not have found ourselves. Here are the videos I found particularly helpful:

Scams - Helicopter Parents
Director - Sing J Lee
We were inspired by the UV face paint and the effect it created. The performance video was given a meaningful depth when the lighting changed and the artists were given a slightly skeletal appearance.

Torgny - The Only Game
Director - Emil Trier
We were inspired by the smoke at the beginning of the video and how it created an ominous assumption with the characters in the video. This acts as foreshadowing for the end of the video and we think it would create a much more interesting video if we use the technique of foreshadowing or the pro-filmic effect of smoke and create repeatability for the video.

The 1975 - Robbers
Director - Tim Mattia
Throughout the video there are foreshadowing shots showing the chaos and carnage that the future will bring juxtapositioned next to shots of the characters planning a robbery. I think this would be a brilliant way for us to show our creative skills and ability to plan our shots if we included some foreshadowing at the beginning of our video.

Sylvan Esso - Coffee
Director - Dan Huiting
I was really inspired by the camera movement at the beginning of the video and how it follows only the feet of the character. I think the mystery and disconnection with the audience is really powerful and I think we should start our video with something like this.

  1. I like the use of smoke in the Torgny video, perhaps we could use this prop in our video.
