Group: Treatment

Our main character is suffering from bipolar disorder and the video starts off by following him whilst he is in a very depressed stage of his life. The narrative is interspersed with flashback shots from when he was in a period of an elevated, joyous mood. The video will conform to genre characteristics by including female dancers along with the main character dancing during the flashbacks. We are contrasting the parallel shots of him being elevated and depressed to represent the interchangeability of emotions that bipolar sufferers experience. At the end of the video our main character will become happier and suddenly break out of his depression to the manic, elevated stage of his disorder whilst the flashbacks will change to him breaking out of his elevated state into a depression. We want to demonstrate how cyclical these changing emotions can feel by using the very first flashback of the main character being happy to be exactly the same as the last shot of our main character breaking out of his depression. The audience will recognise this shot and realise that he is in a cycle that he feels trapped in.
