L.P: Contribution to the Pitch

This is what I discussed in the Pitch for our ideas for our music video to Bondax- Gold (Snakehips Remix):

Mood boards
We started by discussing the genre of dance music, we had all made our own mood boards. My mood board focused behind London Grammar and Disclosure, with ideas of dancing and animation like in the Bombay Bicycle Club music video to Carry Me. This shows lots of animations that we are thinking about portraying in our video. I have also looked at pictures of ideas for our make-up, such as gold glitter over the characters eyes.

Characters
Our main character has Bipolar Disorder, which is a mental disorder characterised by periods of elevated mood and periods of depression. During mania an individual feels or acts abnormally happy, energetic or irritable. We are going to film him on the roof with a subtle message that he is thinking about suicide. To make his bipolar clear we are going to contrast black and white shots with saturated shots to convey his mental disorder.
We are also going to use female dancers, 2 of which are coming with us up to our location in London to shoot and the other 3 are going to shoot with the lights in a garage.

Costume and make-up
Our main character is going to wear skinny jeans, styled after Darwin Deez. He is also going to change t-shirts in different shots and we are also going to have shots where he is wearing the brand Adidas. For example, a bright orange Adidas jumper which can be saturated in the happy shots. One of our inspirations being Jungle's music video to The Heat.
For the Dancers, we are styling them after the dancers in Aluna George's videos and Aluna George herself. We are going to use bomber jackets and also style some of their make-up like the girl with the flick eyeliner. We are also going to use lots of gold make-up simply to link to the lyrics in the song. We are inspired by the music video to Lorde- Tennis Court (Flume remix) and the se of gold glitter over the ladies body, and also the music video to Clean Bandit- A&E and the use of gold paint in the stop motion effect.

Visual Hooks
The first few shots are very important to catch the audiences eye, allowing them to decide whether they want to continue watching. That's why we are making the title really stand out like Tourist does. Another visual hook is the vibrant dancing, we are going to make the shots saturated and the clothing bright colours like we did in our Brighton video.

Overlaying
In editing, we are going to use overlaying, our ideas are to overlay words for example lyrics and also overlay colours, in the shots where the character I portrayed as happy. Lastly we are planning to overlay shapes, our main inspiration being Clean Bandit.

Audience Research
One of our questions was "What style of clothing would you imagine the characters to be wearing?" The most popular choices were trainers, Adidas brands ect and also bright colours. These are the look we were planning to go for so that was a success. Another question was "When listening to the track what visually first comes to mind?" We had some really good answers which backed up what we imagined. A lot of people said 'dancing and bright colours' and also 'kaleidoscopes' which we are using as our Digi pack. My favourite answer was "vibrancy but also a sense of sadness and depression" because this is exactly the aim we are going for. Our most popular answer for "What setting would our video expect to be shot in?" was the one we aimed for "early in the morning when it's sunny".
